Disposable, compostable & biodegradable clear clamshells made from PLA, a 100% renewable plant based polymer. PLA is a clear, nature-based food packaging innovation made 100% from corn, making it a natural fit for fresh, wholesome foods. PLA resin starts as the carbon corn plants remove from the air during photosynthesis and store in grain starches. The starches are broken down into natural plant sugars and, through a simple process of fermentation, separation and polymerization, the carbon and other elements in these natural sugars are used to make the plastic polylactide (PLA). Our biodegradable plant-based take out boxes have the same look and feel as petroleum-based cups. However, all Tahoe Green products made from Ingeo™ plant based resin have a heat tolerance of 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Though these compostable food containers are as rigid and sturdy as standard plastic they will warp and become deformed when exposed to high temperatures. Our biodegradable clamshells are impermeable and do not contain toxic chemicals like BPA . A far superior alternative to styrofoam & plastic made from oil.
Please note, composting is required for biodegradation of these products, and these compostable containers will biodegrade within 180 days in a commercial composting facility.
